The snatch is a lift wherein an athlete sweeps the barbell up and overhead in one fluid action: the lifter takes a wide‑grip on the bar and pulls the barbell off the floor before rapidly re‑bending their knees to get themself under the barbell (usually bringing themself into a deep overhead squat position), so that the barbell is supported over their head with arms outstretched. The snatch is then completed by the lifter rising to a standing position while holding the barbell overhead. The snatch demands precise balance.
Velocity Frequency Intensity
The clean and jerk is a combination lift, in which the athlete gets the barbell overhead in two stages: first by lifting the barbell into support on the front of the shoulders, a position known as the front rack (the clean), and then lifting it from shoulders to overhead (the jerk). To perform the clean, the lifter takes a shoulder-width grip on the bar and pulls it off the floor, and then rapidly re‑bends their knees to get their body under the barbell and "catch" the bar on the front of the shoulders.

The Starting Position, with feet hip-width apart and hands in a wide grip, often about 1.5 times shoulder width; the First Pull, in which the lifter extends through knees and hips, moving the barbell upward from the floor while maintaining a flat back; the Second Pull, as the bar reaches mid-thigh, when the lifter explosively extends through the hips and knees, propelling the bar upwards; the Catch, in which the lifter drops under the bar into a deep squat, catching it with arms fully extended above; and, finally, the Recovery, when the lifter stands up from the squat with the bar still overhead, signaling completion. Common errors in the Snatch include early arm bend, lack of hip extension, and incomplete lockout.

BODYBUILDING
In a well-structured training session, each exercise is designed to target a specific muscle group while allowing for controlled progression. For example, a leg-strengthening workout might begin with heavy squats, performed in 4 sets of 8 reps to stimulate strength gains. Tempo is essential here: a 3-1-1-0 tempo — with a slow descent to maximize time under tension — adds an extra layer of intensity to each rep. After a minute of rest between sets, the workout moves to dumbbell lunges. Performed in 3 sets of 12 reps per leg, these lunges work on balance and stability, engaging the quadriceps, hamstrings, and glutes. The goal of these compound exercises is to establish a solid foundation of strength, promoting better posture and reducing the risk of injury. The second half of the session focuses on isolation exercises to refine muscle details. For example, leg extensions are completed in 4 sets of 15 reps with a steady tempo, emphasizing control and a full range of motion. This exercise isolates the quadriceps, enhancing muscle definition in the front of the thighs. Following this, hamstring curls are added to target the back of the legs, again in 4 sets of 12 reps. A final burnout set of calf raises is performed to engage the lower legs, with a high rep count to maximize endurance and muscle pump. This combination of compound and isolation movements helps balance strength with definition, creating a well-rounded, effective leg workout.
A well-rounded training session strategically combines both compound and isolation exercises to maximize strength and muscle definition. For a back-focused workout, the session might begin with deadlifts, performed for 4 sets of 6 reps at a controlled 2-1-1-0 tempo. This foundational lift not only strengthens the back but also engages the glutes, hamstrings, and core. Each set is followed by a rest period of 90 seconds to maintain high intensity. The workout then shifts to pull-ups, completing 3 sets of 10 reps. This bodyweight exercise targets the upper back and lats, helping to develop a broad, strong frame. These compound exercises lay the groundwork for a solid back, encouraging both strength and balanced muscle activation. The second phase of the workout focuses on isolating specific areas. Lat pulldowns in 4 sets of 12 reps follow, allowing for a full stretch and contraction in each rep to thoroughly engage the lat muscles. Next, single-arm dumbbell rows in 3 sets of 10 reps per side bring symmetry and balance by addressing any potential strength imbalances. Finally, face pulls with a rope attachment are added in 3 sets of 15 reps, targeting the rear deltoids and upper back for enhanced posture and definition. This combination of heavy, foundational lifts with targeted isolation exercises creates a balanced back workout that improves both strength and muscle detail across the entire posterior chain.

About this font

Flexed and stiff at first sight, Mars resembles a sturdy interpretation of select vernacular signs from North America. However, its designer blended much more diverse flavors — conjuring the rocky beaches of Seattle, the harbor of Marseille, and the dusty ground of the Red Planet.
Mars comes in a pack of three pills, no more. The dynamic trio consists of a pumped-up extended style and slimmer condensed, with a standard cut in the middle. The three cuts are designed to be worked together, yet they maintain their own singularity as a stand-alone typeface in a wide variety of design projects.
