Emmanuel Besse
Emmanuel Besse is an art director and a type designer with a focus to open-ended and inclusive approach to communication.
A co-founder of the design studio Large Projects, he holds a degree in typographic design from the École Estienne in Paris. Emmanuel has worked on a wide range of design projects, including web design, publishing, and typeface design. His creative input has been instrumental in large-scale branding as well as for tailored campaigns and artworks. Over the past 10 years, Besse has collaborated with institutions and brands such as Nike Paris, Centre Pompidou, Hardel Le Bihan architects, Actes Sud, and Trax Magazine. At Large Projects, he delivers the day-to-day art direction for the cultural center La Gaîté Lyrique in Paris, as well as the comprehensive rebranding of the popular streetwear store Citadium. Besse also teaches and conducts workshops at universities in France and abroad. In October 2020, he co-initiated the Summer school project “FAQ”, a three-day seminar held in the remote French countryside, aimed at nurturing the talent of graduates and young professionals.
