The International Space Station (ISS) combines NASA’s Space Station Freedom project with the Soviet/Russian Mir-2 station, the European Columbus station, and the Japanese Kibō laboratory module. Not just looking up, NASA launched the Orbiting Geophysical Observatory to look down at Earth and observe its interactions with the Sun. The Uhuru satellite was the first dedicated x-ray telescope, mapping 85% of the sky and discovering a large number of black holes.
Commercial Resupply Services (CRS) are a contract solution to deliver cargo and supplies to the International Space Station (ISS) on a commercial basis. NASA signed its first CRS contracts in 2008 and awarded $1.6 billion to SpaceX for twelve cargo Dragon and $1.9 billion to Orbital Sciences for eight Cygnus flights, covering deliveries to 2016. Both companies evolved or created their launch vehicle products to support the solution (SpaceX with The Falcon 9 and Orbital with the Antares).
SpaceX flew its first operational resupply mission (SpaceX CRS-1) in 2012. Orbital Sciences followed in 2014 (Cygnus CRS Orb-1). In 2015, NASA extended CRS-1 to twenty flights for SpaceX and twelve flights for Orbital ATK. This project aims to enhance the temperature range of the Thermal History Coating up to 1,500°C (2,730°F) and beyond. The final goal of this project is improving the safety of jet engines as well as increasing efficiency and reducing CO₂ emissions.

↗ On 15 November 2020, final pre-launch preparations were completed. The hatch of Resilience was closed at 22:32 UTC, but reopened briefly after a slight drop in pressure was detected. Troubleshooting the hatch seal led to discovery of a small amount of foreign object debris (FOD) in the seal. ↗ The hatch was then closed again, and mission controllers proceeded with the countdown. No further concerns were noted, and on 16 November 2020 at 00:27:17 UTC, Resilience lifted off successfully. Its Falcon 9 first-stage booster, SN B1061.1, landed on the autonomous spaceport drone ship Just Read the Instructions. The astronauts entered a stable orbit after about nine minutes. ↗ For this mission, the crew had chosen a plush toy of “The Child” (also known as “Baby Yoda”) from The Mandalorian as a Zero-G indicator. The crew were awakened on the second day of the flight with Phil Collins’s “In the Air Tonight”. Resilience docked to the International Docking Adapter (IDA) on the Harmony module on 17 November 2020 at 04:01 UTC.

About this font

Paramount fixates the shapes of everlasting human futures. In a world where innovation and expression intersect, a new typeface has emerged: rooted in a sci-fi feel from the Kubrick’s Hollywood Space era, this new font family tells so much more of mankind than what’s written in the stars. Paramount transcends the confines of conventional typographic family structures, offering a glimpse into the boundless possibilities to come. This new release by swiss type designer and ECAL educator Chi-Long Trieu aims to tell now what it is to come next: a seamless blend of the present and the yet-to-be but always with humanity at heart. This is the Paramount loophole, well-suited for a spaceship lost in the galaxy as mush as for a people-caring app. It is a link and a soul, a spirit of exploration and connection that serves as a beacon light in the conceptual vastness of the future.
Paramount and Paramount Neo are great for lengthy, spirited text. This geometric sans-serif font family comprises of two sets (each six roman styles with matching italics), enabling designers to shape messages with utmost clarity and impact.
Paramount can show and announce it all. Used in stylish display applications, Paramount conveys audacity, uniqueness, and approachable difference. Paramount is replete with glyph alternates for both upper- and lowercases, enabling the exploration of how a typeface can be pushed into neo-futuristic aesthetics. From a distance, one could even discern hints of long-forgotten remains of hand lettering techniques.
C, J and S are sharp on the terminals while E, F, G and R have slightly uneven shapes and contrasted countershapes, playing with the eye for a journey into the text like no other: a journey of permanence and resilience, of trust in the our future as a species.
Paramount is a statement for the relentless pursuit of innovation and creative expression. Its arrival heralds a new era, where typography shapes the trajectory of human communication. With Paramount, the future of design is at hand. Paramount embraces the possibilities and explores the unknown.
