Magic
Away
Once there was a gentleman who married, for his second wife, the proudest and most haughty woman that was ever seen. She had, by a former husband, two daughters of her own, who were, indeed, exactly like her in all things. He had likewise, by another wife, a young daughter, but of unparalleled goodness and sweetness of temper, which she took from her mother, who was the best creature in the world.
Once upon a time, in a land of magic, there lived a beautiful princess named Aurora. She was known throughout the kingdom for her kindness, grace, and her heartwarming smile. Her hair was as golden as the sun, her eyes as blue as the sky, and her laughter as sweet as a songbird’s. As the kingdom rejoiced, three good fairies, Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather, gave their blessings to the little princess.

Glow
Vibe
This aesthetic embraced excess. Gloss and glow collided with pixel noise and neon gradients. Imperfection was not a flaw but a statement, blurred images, distorted layouts, saturated colors. Everything shimmered with a kind of immediacy.
At its core, it was rebellious. Against minimalism, against restraint, against the idea of a clean interface. It celebrated personality over polish, emotion over structure. A space where individuality wasn’t curated, it was broadcast.

About this font

Super intense, super condensed, Super Castel.
Narrow proportions, tall x-height and a dark tone: this display serif draws on the “Goût Hollandois” tradition defined by dramatic vertical tension. Designer Max Esnée reinterprets these forms for contemporary use with a brutalist deformation, subjecting their flourish and contrast to extreme compression.
Featuring a visible rhythm between thick and thin strokes and flared, or “flex,” serifs, Super Castel is at home in headline environments. Its stance lends weight to titling and logotypes, where typographic density must feel articulate. While the narrow shapes of Super Castel lean towards emphasizing the verticals, the oblique axis of the historical models stay perceptible. The large x-height, in turn, covers the available space even in the most compressed settings.
Rather than expanding outward, Super Castel is developed exclusively in two widths, Condensed and Extra Condensed, each with 6 weights and corresponding italics, totaling 24 styles that reward careful typesetting: vertical stress creates natural stacking tension, and compact spacing encourages bold typographic blocks. The most condensed styles of Super Castel achieve a rhythmic staccato effect where the repetition of dense, high-contrast strokes creates an active sensory landscape. Combining the familiarity of old serif fonts with visual compression, Super Castel excels where presence and nuance must coexist: strong headlines, mastheads, cover titles, branding, or exhibition graphics.
“I wanted a typeface that would make for very striking titles or words in large sizes. In the Extra Condensed version, it has a very lively, 'sparkling' texture, that can make a big impact in the right setting.”
Super Castel examines typographic control and the disciplined distortion of reference material, situating them within contemporary visual narratives. In an exploration of what remains when a historical form is forced to adapt to a new frequency, it shows how familiar elements can be pushed to a breathless extreme.
