The first edition took place on September 24th to a full house, in the mini-amphitheater of the foundry’s new offices in the Marais, gathering designers from across disciplines to speak their minds, ask questions, and sometimes even disagree!
The first edition took place on September 24th to a full house, in the mini-amphitheater of the foundry’s new offices in the Marais, gathering designers from across disciplines to speak their minds, ask questions, and sometimes even disagree!
Big Words was born from a rather simple observation: real, critical conversation about design has grown increasingly to find, and where it exists, it’s often guarded and carefully polished.
Big Words sets out to do the opposite: it sets out to explore the substance of design through honest opinion and genuine disagreement rather than mild consensus. Conceived as a series, it moves through different formats from one episode to the next with this first edition taking the form of three debates hosted by Simon Descamps.
A huge thank you to our speakers who set the tone — Clémentine Berry, Benjamin Grillon, David Broner, Pierre Vanni, Alaric Garnier and Johan Débit — for their candor and enthusiasm. And also to everyone who came and threw themselves into it: you made the night what it was.
Big Words returns for its second edition on November 26 with a new format and the same spirit. We’ll see you there!
