Hélène Marian
Hélène Marian is a type designer, a signpainter, and a graphic designer. Her work is based on the use of letters, which she lays out, vectorizes or paints by hand.
Her approach to hand lettering, without resorting to predefined templates, is inspired by improvisational and experimental practices. She exploits the possibilities offered by the brush to create unpredictable, unexpected, porous and gestural forms, which are later translated into digital fonts.
In addition to her type skills, she has also been very active in the experimental music scene since 2015. She regularly collaborates with various players in this scene, such as Instants Chavirés for the creation of video programming posters, the No Lagos Musique label for sleeve design, as well as Revue & Corrigée and the 2035 label for other projects.
