Deberny et Peignot, “Mantille” and ”Girandole”, ca 1930
Pierre Roy (1880–1950) is a surrealist painter, renowned in the 1930s. He is also a poster designer, illustrator and theater decorator. His Mantille and Girandole vignettes, “cut and cast by Deberny et Peignot”, probably at the beginning of the 1930s, are recommended by the foundry to be used with Montaigne, previously named Elzévir Demi-gras.
